Dataw Island – Beaufort SC
Dataw Island is a gated island community located in beautiful Sea Islands of coastal South Carolina. Located just six miles from the historic town of Beaufort, this 870 acre former 18th century plantation has been transformed into a luxury golf community that is the perfect combination of privacy, seclusion, and luxury amenities.
The coastal community offers gated entry and security officers on duty 24 hours a day. Dataw Island is a private club with a choice of golf, sports or social memberships. There is no need to purchase amenities that you will not be using.
Dataw Island Golf
Tom Fazio and Arthur Hills have created two unique private 18 hole golf courses which have become of of the main attractions of Dataw. The Cotton Dike course created by Tom Fazio and the Morgan River course created by Arthur Hills take full advantage of the natural beauty of the island while maintaining challenging play for all skill levels. Both courses offer scenic views of the islands wetlands, majestic live oaks and the Morgan River.
The community offers a complete practice facility and fully stocked pro shop. The professionally run golf program offers private lessons, clinics and tournaments. The 25,000 sq ft clubhouse was recently renovated and expanded to create more space for social and recreational functions and formal and casual dining. Additional space is available for social events in the new fitness and tennis center.
The tennis club has eight Har-Tru surface courts. Four of the courts are lighted for night play. The newly constructed tennis center offers a fully stocked pro shop and a professional staff ready to help you choose the right equipment and apparel. The club also organizes the schedule of lessons and clinics, tournaments, and special events.
The new fitness center is home to a large workout room with top quality weight machines and cardio equipment, an indoor heated pool, a whirlpool spa, and an activity area with cushioned flooring. There is a regular schedule of exercise classes that include Pilates, aerobics, and yoga. In addition to the indoor pool, members can enjoy the outdoor junior Olympic swimming pool, kiddie pool, and snack bar.
Dataw Island Marina
The Dataw Island Marina is a privately owned and operated marina that features deep water boat slips, a dry storage center, and a boater’s store that stocks a wide selection of boating needs. Dataw is located 3 miles from the Intracoastal Waterway and a half hour ride to the Atlantic Ocean.
The club has two regulation sized croquet lawns. The Croquet Club of Dataw was formed in 1994 and is a member of the U.S. Croquet Association.

Dataw Island also has more 30 member-sponsored clubs that feature a wide array of activities such as hiking, gardening, and yacht club just to name a few. There is also an abundance of fishing options from the stocked community ponds and to the surrounding waterways. You can even access the Atlantic Ocean for some deep sea fishing action.

Patio homes are 2 to 3 bedrooms, range from 1,600 to 2,600 sq ft, and priced in the $300,000 to $700,000 range on average. The villas offer maintenance free living priced $215,000. Single family homes range from 2,200 to 7,500 sq ft and priced from $215,000 to $3 million on average. A selection of home sites are available and are priced based on size and location. Patio lots begin at $75,000 and full-size lots start at $150,000.
